Construction Counseling and Contracts

BLF regularly provides legal advice concerning the relationships and obligations involved in the planning, design, and construction of a project. Our construction clients include corporate and institutional owners, developers, general contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, and design professionals, in addition to our representation of sureties, which is described in greater detail here. Specifically, BLF is often called upon to assist in resolving problems that arise during construction. When those problems cannot be solved, our attorneys are also experienced in all forms of construction-industry litigation, which is described in greater detail here.

In addition, BLF attorneys have a wealth of experience in developing construction-industry agreements for all aspects of the construction process. In particular, BLF provides on-going construction contract development services for a number of project owners, including a national real estate investment trust and two major universities. Among other services, BLF has developed standard design and construction contracts for these owners' projects in various states. BLF also negotiates and drafts contracts for particular projects for these clients, for projects of varying sizes, up to $500 million.
