Associate

Matthew Skolnik joined Bazelon Less & Feldman, P.C. as an associate attorney in 2006. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, along with employment and intellectual property litigation. Prior to joining Bazelon Less & Feldman, Mr. Skolnik was a litigation associate with the law firm of Pepper Hamilton. Mr. Skolnik has extensive litigation and alternative dispute resolution experience in practice areas that include general civil litigation, bankruptcy, construction, copyright, employment discrimination, securities, and trademark law.

In May 2010, Mr. Skolnik was named to "Pennsylvania Rising Stars" by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine. Super Lawyers recognizes the top up-and-coming attorneys in Pennsylvania and no more than 2.5 percent of such attorneys are named to the "Rising Stars" list annually.

Mr. Skolnik’s representative engagements at Bazelon Less & Feldman have included the following: serving as second chair counsel in a three-day preliminary injunction hearing in a federal court trademark case; a sensitive trade secrets dispute in Pennsylvania state court; the defense of a Family and Medical Leave Act claim; in an issue of first impression, the successful briefing of a bankruptcy litigation matter before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit; and the ongoing representation of numerous construction management firms in lawsuits and mediations.

Mr. Skolnik’s engagements at Pepper Hamilton ranged from the Enron Securities Litigation to a copyright lawsuit in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to representing two juveniles in a pro bono immigration matter before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Mr. Skolnik earned his J.D. at Emory University School of Law, where he was the Executive Managing Editor of Emory International Law Review. His Comment, “The Forum Non Conveniens Doctrine in Alien Tort Claims Act Cases: A Shell of its Former Self after Wiwa?” was published in 2002 and has been cited in approximately two dozen law reviews, practice guides and treatises since.

Mr. Skolnik graduated with Class Honors from the University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1997. After college, Mr. Skolnik worked as a human resources management consultant for the Corporate Executive Board in Washington, D.C.
