BAZELON LESS & FELDMAN NAMES LISA A. BARTON AS SHAREHOLDER

Lisa A. Barton was recently named a shareholder at Bazelon Less & Feldman, P.C., according to Richard L. Bazelon, a founding shareholder. “Lisa has shown an outstanding track record in the areas of commercial litigation and construction law,” he noted. “With her extensive background as an architect for 10 years, she has become a valuable resource to many of our clients, including owners, sureties, architects and contractors."

Her familiarity with and ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications help her to advise clients and evaluate claims and defenses in construction disputes. In addition, she has developed and taught a seminar on the topic of "understanding construction documents" for the firm’s clients and for Lorman Education Services.

Prior to law school, Barton was employed by several architecture and design firms in the Philadelphia area where she worked on a variety of institutional, commercial and health care projects. From 1986-89, she was an instructor in the architectural studies department at the University of the Arts. She also worked as a millwork and casework detailer, preparing shop drawings for the fabrication of wood doors, windows and custom millwork. Barton became a New York registered architect in 1984 and a Pennsylvania registered architect in 1991.

A resident of Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood, Barton earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law in 1996. She was a recipient of the school’s Bonnie Rome Scholarship from 1993 to 1994. Barton served as a staff member of the Temple Law Review from 1994 to 1995 and its associate research editor from 1995 to 1996. She received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1981 while earning several awards, including the AIA Henry Adams Medal, the Peter Bruder Memorial Prize in Structures, the DelGaudio Award for Excellence in Design and the Alumni Association Service Award. She earned a Master of Architecture degree with a certificate in urban design from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982. Barton is admitted to the state bars in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey.
