1968, B.A. | Peter F. Marvin Of Counsel Mr. Marvin joined the firm as Of Counsel in 2008. Mr. Marvin is a 1968 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a 1972 graduate of its Law School, where he served as Research Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. After graduating from law school, Mr. Marvin served as law clerk to the Honorable Arlin M. Adams of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1972 to 1973, and from 1973 to 1974 as a Teaching Fellow at Stanford Law School. Prior to joining the firm as Of Counsel, Mr. Marvin’s litigation practice over a period of 35 years addressed the full range of litigated business issues and included a special focus on construction-related problems encompassing bid protests, claims by and against owners and disputes between contractors and subcontractors. He litigated issues involving some of the major public works projects in the region including the rebuilding of the Frankford portion of SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Elevated line, the construction of a new commuter runway at Philadelphia International Airport, the development of the recreational path on the east bank of the Schuylkill River, the rebuilding of portions of I-95 in northeast Philadelphia and the rebuilding of the Market Street portion of SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Elevated line. The projects in which he has been actively involved range in value from $3 million to $140 million. Commercial disputes he has handled include all nature of contract disputes. Major commercial cases recently handled include disputes between parent corporations and former subsidiaries, environmental cost recovery actions, environmental and other insurance coverage disputes and issues related to on-line search engines and advertising. Representative clients include major heavy and highway contractors, general contractors, specialty contractors, architects, large privately held companies, small businesses and individuals. In addition to counseling and advising on construction industry and commercial litigation matters, Mr. Marvin serves as a neutral, both in mediating disputes and as an arbitrator and special master. He is a member of the national Commercial and Construction Panels of Arbitrators, American Arbitration Association; he has served as a Member of the national Panel of Arbitrators appointed by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to implement the Nationwide Class Action Settlement in In Re: Diet Drugs (Phentermine/Fenfluramine/Dexfenfluramine) Products Liability Litigation (appointed 2001).
